How does this work?
Every guest completes a personality/lifestyle questionnaire and the answers are programmed into small electronic devices, "e-Keys". When two guests find an initial attraction, they point their devices at each other, push a button, the devices exchange data and give an instant compatibility rating.

What does the rating mean?
The evaluation will give a rating from red to orange to green (low to typical to high). A red rating does not necessarily mean non-compatibility; nor does a green rating mean a total compatibility. The rating gives our guests an initial idea of how much work that might need to go into the relationship to be successful. Remember, attraction is a balance of personality and physical appearance. A red rating can be softened by a high physical attraction. Conversely, a green rating can override a low physical attraction.

Does the e-Key go off when someone walkes by me?
No. We believe everyone's privacy; no one can "zap" your data without your permission, likewise, you need permission to "zap" someone else. Also, we want to make sure that every guest has a chance to interact with one another.

When I ask someone to exchange personalities and they agree, what do I do?
When you are ready to exchange profiles, you point the devices at each other and firmly press and release the "T" button. The lights on the e-Key will flash back and forth and then only one or two lights will remain lit. These lights will give you your compatibility rating.

After we exchange personalities and get results, what next?
After you get the results, you decide how long you wish to speak with the other person. We designed our mixers without a time limit on interaction, so feel free to talk to whoever you want to talk to, for as long (or as briefly) as you like.

I registered for a OneKeyAway Mixer and ready to go. What do I wear?
Wear whatever you feel is comfortable, represents your personality and will make a good first impression.

Do I have to complete the questionnaire before the mixer?
We recommend that you complete the questionnaire online; if you complete it less than 24 hours before the mixer, we suggest you print it out and bring it with you to ensure we will have your data available to program an e-Key for you.

Some of the questions are alike. How do I answer them?
The questionnaire was developed with a proprietary algorithm. The manufacturer suggest that you answer the questions how you feel best fits your interpretation. The questionnaire only analyzes a small portion of your personality and this algorithm is just a jump-start to getting to know someone.

What are the age ranges?
The mixers are currently open to all ages over 21. Most of the guests fall between mid 20's and early 40's.

Are these mixers for straight people only?
Currently, most of our guests are straight. In the near future, we will have alternative lifestyle mixers.

Why do you have the mixers on weekdays?
We want our guests to find make friends during the week so that they can plan to do things over the weekend.

How long are the mixers?
The mixers are usually after normal work hours; they begin in the early evening and last until 10:00 or so. But if you've met someone you really "click" with, there's no reason to go home that early!

Can I come with a friend?
This is a very interactive activity and chances are you will be mingling with different people throughout the mixer, but feel free to bring a friend (or three!); it can also be fun to measure how compatible you and your friends are!

What cities do you have mixers in?
We currently have mixers in Los Angeles Area, San Francisco Bay Area and New York . Within the next year we hope to have mixers in Las Vegas and Seattle. We are also looking into having mixers in Florida, San Diego, Texas and Boston. I met someone at the mixer but I forgot to ask for his/her email information.
At the mixer, guests are given a sheet of paper to record people they are interested in. At the end of the evening, submit the sheet to the registration table. Within a few days, guests will get an email of other guests who give permission to release their email address.
